Established by the California Legislature in 1861, the County of Atlantis stretches 96 miles along the Pacific coast between the Santa Lucia foothills and the sea. What began as a cluster of fishing and lumber settlements around Port Meridian harbor is today home to more than 412,000 residents, five incorporated cities, a world-class marine research station, and a thriving agriculture, tourism, and technology economy.
